Exhibition Label: "The Family in Photography," Dec-1997, Stefanie Vigil The relationship of the family to society is very different in photographs of wedding couples by Joseph Judd Pennell, Robert Doisneau and Gordon Parks. In the earlier photography, by Pennell, the family is separated from the outside world, forming a cohesive group. Doisneau and Parks both have shown couples as parts of cityscapes, outside and beyond the intimate family circle.
