Exhibition Label: "Constructions of Place: Architecture in Photography," Jan-1991, Erin Barnett Renger-Patzsch was an important figure in the New Objectivity (Neue Sachlichkeit) movement of the 1920s and early 1930s. He, like other contemporary European photographers, was interested in using the medium to render objects in detail. This photograph depicts a form of traditional German architecture, half-timber buildings.
