Archive Label 1999: Klaverkamp taught painting and drawing classes at the University of Kansas from 1968 until his death in 1986. He earned an MFA in 1967 from Indiana University, where he studied with William Bailey, a realist well known for his depictions of the human form. Klaverkamp's drawings share Bailey's fine modeling technique and classically balanced composition, but reveal a greater psychological tension.
