Exhibition Label: "Constructions of Place: Architecture in Photography," Jan-1991, Erin Barnett By taking photographs of places and objects he loved, Morris attempted to preserve them. Like many of his photographs from the 1940s, this one emphasizes the formal qualities of the building by depicting it frontally, the stark white contrasting with the gray sky. Although humans are absent from most of his works, their presence is suggested by the remaining artifacts.
