Exhibition Label: "Japan Re-imagined/Post-war Art," Mar-2008, Kris Ercums Celebrating the unpredictable vagaries of the printing process, Imamura creates scratched and worn images that reveal the passing of time. Sensitive to the conflicts of everyday life, his prints attempt to harmonize the mind and body against the pressures of time and routine. In this print he simulates the movement of time within space-a compass needle quickly jumps to the north position-leaving behind visible traces that chronicle the passing of a moment.
