Archive Label 1999: Cunningham studied art with Rosemary Ketcham at the University of Kansas in the late 1920s. After college, he moved to Effingham, Kansas, where he lived during the early 1930s. From that small town, he likely drew the inspiration for such subjects as this. Cunningham subsequently relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked as an architect.
