Exhibition Label: "Signs of Faith: Photographs from the Collection," Oct-2001, Elissa L.Anderson Prophet Royal Robertson painted the signs in this picture with jolting apostolic messages. Iversen’s photograph documents the work of this religious extremist and the propagandistic potential of text and images. Recalling his visit with Prophet Robertson, Iversen writes, “There seemed to be a constant contest of good and evil bubbling up from within him. Conversing with him was, in many ways, similar to listening to William S. Burroughs read. Meeting Robertson clarified, in my mind, the importance of making audio and video recordings of living visionary artists.”
