Exhibition Label: "Sum of the Parts: Recent Works on Paper," Jun-2001, Stephen Goddard There is considerable feedback between the works that Colette Bangert does in traditional media and the computer images that she does in collaboration with her husband and computer programmer, Jeff Bangert. Colette has described her creative process as, “ the record of many conversations between my self, the midwestern landscape, and Jeff.” Like other series of images in this exhibition that are essentially variations on a theme, the Bangerts’ graphic art is a record of subtle compositional changes, in this case effected by the code written by Jeff. It is notable that the artists made use of a pen plotter (as opposed to an inkjet printer) that actually moves drawing media across the sheet of paper.
