Exhibition Label: "Time/Frame," Jun-2008, Robert Fucci, Shuyun Ho, Lauren Kernes, Lara Kuykendall, Ellen C. Raimond, and Stephanie Teasley Late fall in the mountains of Koyasan, Japan, Petah Coyne encountered a group Buddhist monks as they suddenly emerged from a nearby forest. Engaged in afternoon prayer, the monks shuffled slowly across the ground in formation, moving from one spot to another, always praying. Using a long exposure time, Coyne conveys something of the quiet energy uniting and binding them together in their communal act of shared meditation.
