In Ancient Egypt, scarab beetles, or khepri (meaning “who created himself”), were worshiped as a manifestation of the sun god Ra. Ancient Egyptians carried small amulets carved in the image of a scarab beetle as reminders of the sun’s eternal cycle. Although scarab beetles are often associated with Ancient Egypt, the country where this ring was made remains a mystery.
