"Chokwe Art from the Claude D. Brown Collection," Feb-2000
Chiefs used their ever-present snuffboxes in ceremonial and ritual contexts. The chiefs prepared a pinch of snuff as a welcome to visitors and as an invocation to the spirits before an assembly.
