Chokwe Art from the Claude D. Brown Collection
Exhibition Overview
These works created by the Chokwe peoples of Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo include ceremonial chairs, pipes, baskets, musical instruments and more collected prior to 1915. They are part of the Claude D. Brown Collection at the KU Museum of Anthropology. The exhibition is in conjunction with African American History Month and the 26th Annual Conference of the African Literature Association at KU April 12-16.
