Exhibition Label: "Passages: Persistent Visions of a Native Place," Sep-2011, Nancy Mahaney A dispatch case was used by military personnel to carry orders to be “dispatched” to the troops. The curvilinear designs on this case emanating from a red star are unique. Long fringe on bags were thought to serve the purpose of channeling rain away from the bag in order to protect the contents.
