Exhibition Label: "NetWorks: Art and Artists from the Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection," Mar-2011, Susan Earle, Stephen Goddard, and SMA Interns Throughout his long career, Will Barnet continues to emphasize a thoughtful and precise use of line. He has reported that he might produce a hundred drawings in the preparation of a single painting, and it is clear that for Barnet, line is the critical element in defining form: “The drawing has to become a painting; line has to be become mass.” Will Barnet turns 100 this year.
