Visible and Divisible America: In Conversation with the 2019–2020 KU Common Book

Ganzeer became well-known for his political graffiti produced in response to the 2010–2012 Arab Spring, a series of protests and uprisings across North Africa and the Middle East. After fleeing Egypt for the United States due to concerns for his safety, Ganzeer has turned his satirical commentary to America’s “dark milestones.” His Honest Money adopts the style of nationalistic currency to comment on issues such as displacement and genocide of Indigenous peoples and systemic racism in America’s criminal justice system.
