Archive Label 2001:
Josiah Wedgwood was a trendsetter, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and an early marketing expert who brought ceramics production into the industrial age. In 1775, he began to produce medallions that emulated classical cameos. Depending on their size, these pieces were used as jewelry or to embellish furniture and architecture.
