And Still We Rise

1926: Langston Hughes was a key player in the Harlem Renaissance, an explosion of African American culture in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood during the 1920s. In 1926, Hughes publishes The Weary Blues, his first book of poetry. Hughes would go on to become one of the 20th century’s most recognized American writers. His literary works celebrate African American culture and promote equality by revealing the African American experience of the era.
