Archive Label 2003: Hall called this a New England pattern datable to 1828. She noted on the back of this block: “I want you to see, as I do, the evolution of the patchwork quilt from a mere utilitarian household necessity to a work of art. The changing patterns and names are just as apparent as the ever-changing trend of civilization itself.”
