Invisible in America: An Exhibition of Photographs by Marion Palfi

Since the late nineteenth century there have been photographers who have sought social change by recording those element that impede progress in our social system. Much of their work has been directly responsible for the enactment of laws affecting the rights of the poor, the homeless, and the victims of discrimination. during the month of April, one hundred sixty photographs spanning Marion Palfi's entire career as a social-research photographer will be on display at the Museum of Art. The exhibition will cover twenty-seven years of social change in America, documenting the participants in the civil rights movement, abandoned and neglected children, the aged, and a select group of American Indians. An illustrated catalogue will accompany the exhibition This is the first major exhibition of Miss Palfi's work in nearly a quarter century, and half of the works in the exhibition have been generously donated to the Museum of art by the photographer.
