Exhibition Label: "Constructions of Place: Architecture in Photography," Jan-1991, Erin Barnett Evans is best known for his architectural interiors, especially those of cathedrals in England and France. He was interested in recording architectural details as well as evoking a building’s emotional character. The latter he achieved not through manipulation but through careful transcription of the play of light on the buildings’ forms and spaces.
