Exhibition Label: "Signs of Faith: Photographs from the Collection," Oct-2001, Elissa L.Anderson Selkirk’s photograph of Frederick J. Eikerenkoetter II, known as “Reverend Ike,” appeared in the Esquire article, “Proof that the seventies have finally begun.” Selkirk depicts the radio and TV evangelist as a royal figure seated prominently on a throne. Rev. Ike, from the United Church and Science of Living Institute in New York, was known for inspirational sayings such as, “Don’t wait for the pie in the sky when you die; get yours now with ice cream on top!”
