Exhibition Label: "Signs of Faith: Photographs from the Collection," Oct-2001, Elissa L.Anderson Boubat’s photograph records a common element of Mexico’s Day of the Dead festival. A small child wearing a mask pretends to bury loved ones beneath a decorated canopy. This practice is one of the social events organized for this sacred and secular festival, which was also documented in photographs by Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
