This is a portrait of Saifūtei Isako, the poet who commissioned Sori's print. Her first verse is full of references to The Tale of Genji, and the picture places her in a modern setting which evokes the tasteful elegance of the Heian court. She has been chanting a song from the libretto on the book stand; a child presents her with a poem slip. The second poem by Isako is a haiku which reads, "Every year, still fascinating- the colors of spring.
