Exhibition Label: "Time/Frame," Jun-2008, Robert Fucci, Shuyun Ho, Lauren Kernes, Lara Kuykendall, Ellen C. Raimond, and Stephanie Teasley From 1941 to 1943, John Collier, Jr. worked for the Farm Securities Administration, a New Deal government agency that promoted responsible agriculture in the wake of the Dust Bowl. Made after the epic drought of the 1930s, Seed Catalogs encourages the average home owner to support his family by planting a garden. Here the lush varieties of peas and corn and the fat, ripe tomatoes available in the catalogs promise a bright future of harvests for the next generation.
