“Textile Design - History of Textiles,” Apr-2010, Chassica Kirchoff
Mariska Karasz created innovative embroidered works that drew upon the lineage of textile production while responding to the advent of modernism in other media. Her work received recognition during her lifetime for its use of texture and color, and her embroideries received renewed attention in the 1980s, when many emerging artists, such as Barbara Eckhardt, began to foster new interest in textiles as artistic media.
