Exhibition Label: "Corpus," Apr-2012, Denise Giannino Der Ritter (The Knight) is a small silver plaquette that takes its design from Hans Holbein’s Dance of Death series, first published in woodcut in 1538. The Dance of Death typically represents Death leading all ranks and conditions of mankind to the grave and popularly appeared in various media well into the 17th century.
