Exhibition Label: "The Art of Stories Told," Jun-2004, Veronica de Jong This is a scene from the final act of the play illustrating the rōnin (master-less samurai) attacking the reviled lord’s residence. Men are depicted scaling the wall while others barrage the gate. Their attack is successful and the lord is shown to be a coward hiding in a corner. They swiftly kill him fulfilling their oath, and next they go to their master’s tomb where they honorably commit suicide.
